Certain passages in life call one to walk hand in hand with uncertainty. As a psychotherapist, Serena offers support and guidance through periods of instability, change, and self-discovery. Her approach is collaborative and process based, encouraging a sense of trust, safety, and self-agency. Integrating Jungian, psychodynamic, humanistic, and family systems techniques, Serena works with each individual to develop their inner emotional resources and natural creative resilience.
Serena has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and age ranges, via community and private mental health organizations. She specializes in issues of anxiety, depression, relational conflicts, life transitions, identity development, as well as recovery from recent and past trauma and loss.
Serena holds a M.A. in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and a BA from Antioch University in psychology and the arts. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in the State of Washington.
Serena’s approach begins with the formulation of the therapeutic alliance, allowing for the unique and individual perspective of each client to be the guiding focus. She recognizes personal transformation and healing as a nonlinear, organic process that requires understanding, tending, and cultivation, as well as humor and curiosity. She uses client centered techniques to lay a foundation of compassion and empathy, with depth approaches to support deep and lasting change. She also provides dreamwork, active imagination, and involvement of creative practices as therapeutic and mindfulness techniques for interested clients.
