Shaya has provided counseling to clients since 2019 and has experience working with a wide range of clients and mental health concerns. She specializes in working with student athletes and LGBTQ+ populations, particularly queer and non-binary adolescents/young adults. While the majority of her clinical experience is in working with trauma related concerns such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, CPTSD and adjustment disorders, she also feels confident in treating clients experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief/loss, identity questioning, sports performance and women’s issues.
Shaya uses a non-pathologizing lens and anti-oppressive frameworks to conceptualize symptomology of her clients, acknowledging and centering how systems of oppression and experiences of marginalization impact her client’s experiences of the world. She works with each client to co-create treatment that works best for each individual and has a flexible eclectic, client-centered approach primarily utilizing Internal Family Systems model, Lifespan Integration, Feminist therapy, Gender Affirming therapy and Neuropsychology backings to inform how to work with trauma stored within the body. Shaya believes in building a foundation of trust with her clients first and foremost and encourages the use of artistic expression, movement and humor in sessions.
