Christie is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker providing counseling in the Redmond and surrounding areas.

 

With 27 years of  experience working with people, Christie has expertise in helping clients to identify the sources of discomfort that brings them to counseling, whether it is situational, biochemical, or long standing patterns of behavior that are causing difficulties, her approach is to always start with where the client is and what they are wanting out of counseling.

 

As a therapist she has a profound respect for the therapeutic relationship and strives to create a collaborative, safe environment to do the work of counseling.

Techniques

 

Christie’s specialties are women’s issues, sexual orientation concerns, mood disorders, couples counseling, PTSD, addictions and smoking cessation. Christie has received formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Family Systems, Group Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology and early training with substance abuse issues.

 

Choosing from these therapies, Christie is able to develop treatment goals with her client that makes use of the best techniques which have been shown to be effective with specific issues the client brings to counseling. She believes a holistic approach has the best outcomes. She is very experienced in blending behavioral and in-sight oriented techniques to help individuals and couples move forward.

 

Christie is constantly updating her own understanding of how the brain works as more information from the newest of neuroscience research unravels the mystery of our brains. Compassionate and empathetic, Christie also brings a sense of humor to work daily and has a therapy sheep named Teddy to prove it.

 

Process

 

Christie has extensive experience working with late teens and adults, both men and women.  Her practice includes individuals and couples work which also includes the LGBTQ community. After an initial assessment, she will explain her expectations, and together, if the client is comfortable with proceeding, they will begin their work together. Warning, she gives homework. It is sometimes a difficult journey, but her promise to her clients is to be there with them every step of the way.
